The CD22 antigen appears in the cytoplasm of late pro and early pre-B cells and on the surface of mature B lymphocytes. It is a pan-B reagent that enables detection of normal and neoplastic B cells in peripheral blood.CD22 is a 130-140 kDa and it is expressed in the cytoplasm as early as the pro-B cell stage, it appears on the cell surface only upon the expression of surface IgD.
